Is there any authorship in AI art?

I was listening to a podcast discussing AI art and the hosts insist there is no authorship in AI art, that you are in essence “just putting in coordinates” that tap into the training data.

Not sure I agree there is no authorship in prompts. It’s not as easy as you think to get the right image. It often takes dozens of attempts with a variety of descriptors using different styles, lighting, cameras, camera angles, facial expressions, body angles, body shots, moods, angles, textures, historical eras, and so forth. It’s a skill that is much different than typing in “gold watch.”
